Addendum to new Class 40 Instructions by Keith Gale
1. P3 (12) Cab console needs painting here. In Green era console is green. Control block Black.
See Diesels in Depth Class 40 Page 17.
2. P3 (18) The Hole for the inserts is too small for easy fit. Open out so that inserts can be pressed in to place with firm pressure.
3. P4 (23&24) As an alternative to making a styrene jig the sides can be fitted to the floor with the roof then put in place .Check for a square fit etc and tack inside at each corner from both open ends. When set remove floor and fill seams between roof and sides. The ends can be used to check for all being square.
4. P 11 (88) Leave the shock absorber pads off until Loco complete. You will need to trim Bogie mounts of the S. A.’s to run over uneven track.
5. P11(89) You can fit sanding gear so that wheels etc can be removed. Bend castings so that sanding gear is outside of the wheel but angled in to the base of wheel.
With a little bit of time spent it will look J.L.T.R.T.
