uPVC Tilt and Turn Windows or Doors
As one of the most unusual types of designs uPVC Tilt and Turn Windows have some unique features that make them stand out from all the rest.
The name is somewhat of a clue to the “secrets” that this design has. In fact, the window (or door version) can operate like a regular door swinging in or out but it can also “lean” backwards or tilt into the room for a great source of secure ventilation.
You can also get tilt & slide versions, which are suitable to use as patio doors.
The hing mechanism is quite complex, but don’t be concerned as that function is controlled by a couple of simple actions with the door or window handle. Turn the handle in one direction and it will open regularly, turn it in another direction and the window will tilt.
You cannot tilt & turn at the same time though – or tilt & slide at the same time.
Quite a few homes have used large version of this design for patio or conservatory doors – however, you need to bear in mind that the door or window will open inwards. This means you have to make sure that the swing arc is clear of obstructions.
